D- DAY ANNIVERSARY

This two centre battlefield tour takes you through the historic French countryside, visiting various sites of WW1 and WW2 battlefields, monuments and cemeteries. Taking in the D-day anniversary, this tour will remember the 6th June 1944, where American, British and Canadian forces landed on the Normandy beaches, as part of Operation Overlord. You will visit Pegasus Bridge, 66 years to the day since the 6th Airborne Division captured the bridge.

Itinerary

Day 1:
Early evening you meet your coach and travel to Belfast, to join the overnight sailing to Birkenhead. Once onboard an evening meal will be served and a cabin has been arranged.

Day 2:
Arrival in Birkenhead is 6.30 am, prior to this breakfast will be served. You rejoin your coach and travel to Dover to join the mid afternoon ferry crossing to Calais. On arrival your coach will continue the journey towards your hotel. After checking in, you will be introduced to your battlefield guide, and enjoy a guided walk into the centre of Arras, before having free time at leisure.

Day 3:
This morning after breakfast you will be met by your battlefield guide and join your coach. Today you will see points of interest en route, noted by your guide. You will visit Newfoundland Memorial Park, The Ulster Tower, Thiepval Memorial and visitors centre, Lochnagar Crater, Fricourt German Cemetry, and Delville Wood. Later in the day your coach will return you back to your hotel for free time at leisure.

Day 4:
D-day anniversary
This morning after breakfast and check out, you will be met by your battlefield guide and join your coach. Today you will see points of interest en route, noted by your guide. You will visit Pegasus Bridge, 66 years to the day since the 6th Airborne Division captured the bridge. You will then travel to your hotel for dinner, and evening at leisure.

Day 5:
This morning after breakfast and check out, you will be met by your battlefield guide and join your coach. Today you will see points of interest en route, noted by your guide. You will visit Arromanches Museum & Mulberry Harbor, Longues-sur-Mer German Gun Battery, town of Port-en-Bessin, and you will also visit Omaha Beach and the German beach defences, American memorials, and the American cemetery at Coleville. Later in the day your coach will return you to your hotel for dinner and evening at leisure.

Day 6:
This morning after an early breakfast, and checking out, you will travel to Calais to join the early afternoon crossing to Dover. Your coach will then travel to Birkenhead to join your overnight sailing to Belfast. Once again, an evening meal and cabin has been arranged.

Day 7:
Prior to arrival in Belfast at 6.30 am breakfast will be served. On arrival, you return to your original joining point.
